COMMUNITY ADJUSTMENT FUND FOR SOUTH-WESTERN ONTARIO

Skills Development Program


ATTENTION: POTENTIAL APPLICANTS:
Due to a high anticipated volume of applications and funding uncertainties, please contact Kristin Sainsbury (kristin@perthcfdc.ca or 519 595-6809) to discuss your intended application before you begin.


The Perth Community Futures Development Corporation offers a program that will support the development of the labour force and meet the needs of businesses, encourage new entrepreneurs and attract external investment in Perth County.


Eligible beneficiary : (Must be located and conduct business in Perth County)
  • Non-profit organizations (including municipalities, municipal organizations, societies, community development corporations and associations);
  • Legal commercial entities including private sector, and SME;
  • Aboriginal organizations;
  • Groups, alliances or organizations mentioned above in which a main beneficiary has been designated.

Eligible activities may include:
  • on-the-job training;
  • in-house or outsourced classroom training;
  • business management skills development;
  • network management training;
  • workshops; or,
  • seminars.

Eligible costs may include:
  • trainer and trainee wages and benefits;
  • travel expenses;
  • software, textbooks, manuals etc. directly related to the skill training;
  • registration fees;
  • course purchases;
  • professional fees;
  • certification fees; and,
  • other costs directly related to the approved Eligible Activities.

Eligible expenses:

The contribution related to skills development should not exceed a maximum amount of $5,000 per employee or $25,000 to any one recipient. Eligible costs for not-for-profit may be up 100% of total eligible costs (excluding taxes). Eligible costs for private sector applicants may be up to 50% of total eligible costs. ALL FUNDS MUST BE DISBURSED BEFORE FEBRUARY 28, 2010.


Assessment: Applicants must demonstrate the following:
  • a sound project budget and work plan;
  • impact of the project on the competitiveness of the business;
  • how the funding will enhance the long-term competitiveness of your business and how it will enhance the skill sets of the employees trained.

The first round of applications are to be received before 4:00 p.m. October 15, 2009 to, and monthly hereafter until funds are depleted:
